Bambu Lab's latest FDM 3D printer offers more warmth and office-friendly features for 3D printing professionals.

Even people who 3D print at or for their daily work appreciate the features of the Bambu Lab X1 series. But key things were missing that would entice them to install a few in their offices.

Now, to appeal to what Bambu Lab says are the "evolving needs" of its customers, the latest addition to the flagship X1 series has been custom-built to meet professional engineering demands. X1E is X1 Carbon, but with more for engineers, which perhaps means E.

What do engineers need, you might ask? According to Bambu Lab, what attracts professionals is the safety in their office, hence the heavy-duty air filtration system; a higher level of network security, thus the new WPA2-enterprise Wi-Fi authentication and Ethernet port connection; and the ability to print with engineered materials such as carbon fiber nylon, the new hotter nozzle temperature of 320ºC and active chamber heating.

Bambu Lab Business Edition: Features

X1E offers the option to connect devices through its newly added Ethernet port, providing network communication in crowded environments with a wireless signal. WPA2-Enterprise Wi-Fi authentication of X1E and individual physical kill switches for both Wi-Fi and Ethernet meet the stringent network security requirements of companies looking to quickly and stealthily prototype their next new product.

X1E can work independently without connection to Bambu Cloud Service, so it is fully functional within a local network. Customers can remotely manage X1E via LAN communication, no internet connection required.

Companies have a responsibility to provide workers with a safe work environment, and in many countries this means complying with laws regarding the exact levels of fumes and VOCs that may be in the air. To that end, Bambu Lab offers a G3 prefilter paired with an H12 HEPA filter, all wrapped in a high-quality coconut shell activated carbon filter. This will ensure optimal air filtration, the company says.

Engineering grade materials such as ABS and PC not only need a higher temperature extruder, but also a constantly heated chamber. X1E offers both. The chamber with active heating on 60ºC will reduce distortion and improve overall print quality, the company says.
