Scan The World initiative, which wants to digitize and share our cultural heritage, now uses Artec 3D scanners (Source: Google Arts & Culture)

Since 2014, the community project Scan the World has been on a mission to make art accessible to people around the world using 3D scanning.

Hosted on Google's art and culture platform, it provides access to artifacts from around the world, making culture more accessible.

Scan the World recently signed a partnership with a manufacturer of 3D scanners and software Artec 3D.

The project will now use a handheld scanner Artec Eva for easier and faster scanning of sculptures, paintings and other key works of art that are part of the world heritage. Its high-resolution mode allows reconstruction almost twice as fast, without forgetting the details and precision.

The scanning team will start with a collection from the Museum of Arts and Crafts in Hamburg, Germany, followed by more museums…
