TwoNav, a manufacturer of non-vegetation GPS equipment, has begun using the 3D printing technology developed by BCN3D for its daily manufacturing operations.

Having recently invested in two Epsilon W50s and a Sigma D25, the company has reportedly begun 3D printing prototypes, end-use parts and production tools at its facilities at its Arenys de Mar, Barcelona plant. As a result, TwoNav claims to benefit from a new, more flexible iterative design process that lends itself to much shorter lead times and lower costs.

Guillem Mitjà Puigdengolas, Product Manager at TwoNav, states: “I would recommend BCN3D printers to any company that needs to get its product to market quickly.”

Explore the outdoors with TwoNav

Even the bravest of people venturing into the wilderness tend to rely on GPS navigation devices to get home safely. TwoNav is a specialist in such devices, offering a whole portfolio of satellite navigation systems and software designed for explorers. The company caters to users of all experience levels, including beginners and professionals such as mountain emergency responders.

In an area where human safety is potentially at risk, reliability is a must. Much of TwoNav's value comes from the reliability of its GPS systems, which means they must be physically robust in many different environmental conditions.

Adrián Guillamón Aparicio, Production Manager at TwoNav, adds: "With TwoNav's services, people can be confident going outdoors with our reliable devices."

Integration of BCN3D 3D printing technology

In an effort to revamp its manufacturing processes and bring its products to market as quickly as possible, TwoNav turned to BCN3D. The latter's 3D printing technology has since been integrated into every stage of production.

At the design conceptualization stage, the ability to quickly prototype new GPS device housings allows for rapid design iterations. TwoNav no longer has to wait for a new mold and production line to be created, but instead offers its own prototypes. Not only does this save costs, but prototypes that used to take weeks can now be 3D printed in a matter of hours.

In addition, TwoNav also actively uses 3D printing of end-use parts such as bike racks for its GPS devices. Because trial and error is now much less of a commitment with 3D printing, it frees up time and resources to focus on achieving higher quality components that are suitable for shipping to customers.

Finally, TwoNav also uses 3D printing to produce precision tools and organizers to help assemble the devices. One such example is a 3D-printed model for connecting the screen, which is used to hold GPS units in place while a pressure machine fixes the glass panel on the front. This particular part reportedly helped offload the assembly process, making the workflow optimally efficient.

Aparicio concludes, “3D printing has enhanced our development and manufacturing processes, and I was surprised at how many applications I could use it for.

The technology of BCN3D is universal, with applications in all sectors. Metrology equipment manufacturer MCE Metrology recently announced an investment in the company's 3D printers, citing huge time and cost savings in prototyping operations. The France-based company strives to provide a more personalized experience for its customers by designing metrology machines with dimensions fully customized to their needs. S Epsilon W27 the company reported annual cost savings of up to €10,000 per year.

Elsewhere, automaker Nissan recently began using BCN3D's technology to bolster its automotive production lines in Spain. It was revealed that the company's factory in Barcelona now has IDEX FFF printers, parts such as tools, fixtures and functional prototypes are being 3D printed.

Very soon, we from 3MG Bonev Ltd. we will be able to offer the printers of BCN3D to their customers. These are high-end printers that can be relied on for daily work (7/24) by small and large companies, in the various fields of production and services, suitable for engineers, architects and entrepreneurs. Do not hesitate to contact us for more details and to learn about the advantages of printers BCN3D!
