Form 3B +

New improvements in the best-selling dental ecosystem for 3D printing

Create high-quality dental models, appliances and dentures faster than ever with Form 3B +, the latest version of Formlabs of the best-selling line of professional SLA 3D printers, which is already being delivered to customers around the world. Form 3B + is rich in improvements that make it easy to quickly and reliably produce dental products in any environment and is based on Low Force Stereolithography (LFS) technology, originally introduced in Form 3 and Form 3B.

Formlabs is proud to make easy-to-use, user-friendly 3D printing products and we have stepped up our commitment to improve the entire 3D printing workflow with the introduction of Build Platform 2 , our next-generation construction platform with patented quick-release technology that allows quick, clean and easy removal of post-print parts to improve post-processing efficiency.

Reliable, high quality parts

The introduction of LFS technology with Form 3 and Form 3B set a new industry standard for consistent print quality and reliability.

One of the innovations introduced by LFS technology and Form 3 and Form 3B, was Light Processing Unit (LPU), a laser system that moves under the resin tank and provides a laser path that is always perpendicular to the plane of the seal. The combination of this linear motion and the system of mirrors inside the LPU means that you get a permanent perpendicular circular laser spot, no matter where the laser is aimed at the print bed. This is important for the production of precise, highly detailed parts and leads to better surface coverage.

Form 3B + includes new hardware and software that tightens laser motion parameters and smoothes motion in LPU, minimizing any deviation from the curing path. The more stable LPU creates smoother coatings, finer details and more transparent parts when printing translucent resins such as Dental LT Clear Resin for occlusal splints.

We know that customers install our printers in different environments and operate them at different ambient temperatures. Form 3B + printers also include a new heating system with improved sensors that heat the print bed faster and more accurately to the optimum temperature for each resin. This development creates faster and more consistent printing for any material for high quality parts, every time.

Ecosystem efficiency improvements

3D resin printing has a reputation for being cluttered in the workplace. Formlabs address this concern with Form Wash and Form Cure , our automated post-processing solutions that clean and harden parts, and our new Build Platform 2 this takes a step forward, improving the efficiency of the overall work process and reducing labor and time from start to finish.

The new one Build Platform 2 has a patented rapid release technology that fundamentally changes the resin printing workflow. Before removing the parts of Build Platform may cause scratches, broken patterns or defects in parts. Now with Build Platform 2 the printed parts are immediately released from the printed surface with a simple movement of the stainless steel side handles. The flexible printing surface ensures immediate release of batch parts at the same time, saving labor time previously spent on manually removing parts one by one. The flexible surface and release mechanism also means you don't have to use tools that can damage parts.

The additional savings in time and labor during post-processing are the result of the improved maintenance configuration inherent in the new settings for materials introduced in Form 3+ and Form 3B+. When previous versions of PreForm generated a rounded tip to attach the support to the part, the new version PreForm creates a prism shape for the points of contact, allowing easier and cleaner breakage.

Form 3B + and Build Platform 2 they help customers, making them the ideal solutions for customers in both practices and laboratories. The construction platform Build Platform 2 is compatible with Form 2, Form 3 and Form 3BAs well as Form3 + and Form 3B +, allowing access to the enhanced workflow for every Formlabs desktop SLA user.

Fast workflows from start to finish

Dental professionals rely on the speed of technology to get their work done quickly and efficiently. With improvements in hardware, software and materials science, Form 3B + can print one model in just 20 minutes and up to 60 models per working day.

Speed software enhancements

Software upgrades are a major contributor to print speed improvements, in particular material settings, laser curing power optimization, and geometry analysis to generate support.

Although Form 3B + uses the same type of laser as Form 3B, the new software upgrade optimizes its hardening capabilities, allowing each layer to build more efficiently. Updated material settings improve print speeds of up to 40% for some materials, including white resin for diagnostic models and soft tissue resin for implant models. No matter which resin, software-driven speed improvements allow you to get a finished part faster, reducing downtime and creating more flexible workflows.

Adaptive layer thickness, an advanced printing mode already available for all materials, reduces printing time by adjusting the layer thickness based on the geometry of the part. To maximize print speed while retaining these details, Form 3B + is able to produce parts with different layer thicknesses, using smaller layers for more detailed geometry, such as occlusal surfaces, and thicker layers for less detailed geometry, such as model bases.

Hardware speed improvements

Form 3B + also contains new hardware components that improve print speed, especially in the early layers, reducing the laser exposure time required for the early print layers to adhere to the build platform. This is especially true for smaller parts such as crown and bridge models, as well as dental models, where early printing layers have a large impact on printing time.

From the beginning to the end of each print, improvements in software, firmware and hardware make the printing experience of Form 3B + faster and more efficient. Whether you need speed to activate real delivery to the chair, maximize productivity in the lab, or save the day in a hurry, speed matters - without sacrificing accuracy. Regardless of the deadline, Form 3B + provides quality and speed.

Quick materials for dental and orthodontic models

Formlabs has an in-house materials science team that develops state-of-the-art 3D printing resins that are designed to work seamlessly with our printers, including Form 3B +. Two recently released materials were formulated from the outset for speed: Draft Resin, for orthodontic models, and Model Resin, for restorative models.

Draft Resin is a gray model material that prints at maximum speed.
He is able to print an arch on an orthodontic model in just 20 minutes.
Model Resin is a model material that prints quickly without sacrificing the surface. It is able to print a high precision recovery model kit in less than an hour.

With these two resins, plus Build Platform 2 and our software feature Scan to Model , the printing of dental and orthodontic models of Form 3B + is faster and easier than ever.

Upgrades from start to finish

From the beginning of your work process to the end, Form 3B + and Build Platform 2 are the fastest and most reliable way to produce high quality dental models, appliances and dentures. With a range of enhancements designed to make it easier to start printing, build a part faster and complete a part in minutes, our new leading desktop SLA ecosystem offers the latest solution for every dentist.
